Stony Brook University’s Auxiliary Services Association (ASA) Department of Engagement and Guest Experience is launching a brand-new Artisan Market, giving student entrepreneurs a platform to showcase and sell their handmade goods just in time for Valentine’s Day.
The event will take place on Wednesday, February 12, from 12 pm to 2 pm at The Boulevard at East Side Dining. It’s an exciting opportunity for the campus community to support fellow Seawolves while discovering one-of-a-kind gifts.
From jewelry, art, and accessories to keychains, stickers, crochet pieces, and more, the market will feature a diverse collection of handcrafted treasures. The campus community can shop for a heartfelt gift or just come to support and celebrate the creativity, talent, and craftsmanship of the many artisans featured at the event.
“This Artisan Market is more than just a place to shop, it is a vibrant, interactive experience filled with creativity, inspiration, and personal connections. Every handmade item has a story, and meeting the artists behind the work makes each purchase even more special,” stated Dawn Villacci, ASA director of engagement and guest experience. “We want the campus community to chat with the artisans about their creative process and hear from the students about why they are so passionate about their business.”
Many of the student artists have shared that their businesses began as a way to build connections within the campus community. “I wanted to turn my hobby into something more, a way to engage with my peers in a creative and meaningful way,” said Holly Paik ‘26, psychology major, founder of Crocheted by Holly. “Being part of the Artisan Market allows me to share my passion while meeting others who appreciate handmade art.”
Villacci emphasized the broader impact of the event, adding, “We are thrilled to provide a space for student entrepreneurs to share their craft, gain exposure, and build their businesses. This market fosters creativity, collaboration, and a strong sense of community.”
